How Can Opt Codes Improve My Profitability?
Opt Codes comprise a new and expanded feature set for the DHD Revex Affiliate Program infrastructure. Opt Codes provide Site Owners greater flexibility and control over the targeting of Affiliate traffic. At the same time, they provide Affiliates with a flexible mechanism for tracking their performance. Opt Codes are represented by two similar but opposite functional areas -- Origin Codes and Destination Codes. Origin Codes enable the Affiliate Webmaster to create specific codes for their banner links that, when passed through Revex in a URL, allow the defined originating URL of that click to be recorded in Revex for statistical purposes. Alternately, Destination Codes enable the Affiliate Program Owner to specify a particular landing page, or Destination, for specified Affiliate placements. When combined together in an Affiliate link, Opt Codes provide much more complete control and tracking of Affiliate traffic that will help you substantially improve the effectiveness of your Affiliate and traffic generating programs.

Origin Codes Use:
Origin Codes are unique numeric codes that are placed with proper syntax into an affiliate link, in order to generate tracking statistics for specific locations that are defined by Affiliate Webmasters when creating the codes.

To Access Origin Codes, log into the Affiliate Program homepage of which you are a member. In the top navigation, click on the "My Account" link. Directly beneath My Account, you will find links for "Destinations" and "Origins".

Click "Origins" to access the tool, which enables the creation, editing and deletion of Origin Codes. On this List Page, you will see a centered window displaying all of your existing Origin Codes for the program.

In the field labeled "Origin Number:" enter a number from 1 to 5 digits, numeric only, that will uniquely identify a particular origin location for your Affiliate link. This code will normally represent a single web address from which you wish to track originating clickthroughs.

After entering the numeric code, click "Add New Origin". The next page enables you to fill in or edit a Name for the code, such as "Top 10 Links" as well as the URL of the page the link is on. Click "Update Origin" to save your changes, and go back to the Origin Codes List Page. From the List Page, click on a Code from the list, and then click "Edit" to make changes using the same process.

To create a link with an Origin Code embedded, select an Origin from the List Page and click "Generate URL Code". Above the window you will see, in blue, the Origin Code URL Generated with the following structure:

http://revex.dhdmedia.com/metromoney.cfm?dcwid=XXXXXX&dcokey=NNNNN

where XXXXXX is your Affiliate ID and NNNNN is the Origin Code.

To manually insert an Origin Code into the URL, simply add the following to the end of your link code: &dcokey=NNNNN, where NNNNN is the numeric Origin Code you have created in the Opt Codes tool within your Affiliate Program.

To delete an Origin Code, select it from the List Page and click the "Delete Origin" button.

Reporting:
Sometime after you have implemented a series of Origin Codes, you will want to review the statistics being generated by the clickthroughs. From the top navigation of the Affiliate Program, click "Live Stats". On this page, you will find the familiar Pay Period Summary showing your personal statistics to date. In the heading of this report you will read: "Pay Period Summary - By Date - By Origin" Clicking "By Origin" will reload the statistics report, but this time display them ordered by the Origin Codes you have created. From here, you may toggle between the views by clicking "By Date" and "By Origin". By carefully creating and managing a list of Origin Codes, you may effectively measure the productivity of various placements, and adjust your programs accordingly.

Destination Codes:
Destination Codes are set up by us so you can pinpoint where you want to send traffic to. To view Destination Codes, log into the Affiliate Program homepage of which you are a member. In the top navigation, click on the "My Account" link. Directly beneath My Account, you will find links for "Destinations" and "Origins".

Click "Destinations" to view the entire list of visible, available Destination Codes and their corresponding target URLs. For each Code, you will see a button labeled "Generate". Clicking this button will reload the page with an added section above the selected Code, with the full URL including your embedded Affiliate Webmaster ID number and Destination Code, with the following format:

http://revex.dhdmedia.com/metromoney.cfm?dcwid=XXXXXX&dcdid=YYYYY

where XXXXXX is your Affiliate ID and YYYYY is the Destination Code. For example, if your Affiliate ID was 100177, and you wanted to use the Destination Code for MetroXXX.com (which is 10001) then your URL would look like this:

http://revex.dhdmedia.com/metromoney.cfm?dcwid=100177&dcdid=10001

You are unable to modify or create new Destination Codes, but if you would be able to use additional codes, please email us and let us know what codes you would like.

To manually create a link with BOTH Origin Code AND Destination Code, simply Generate the Origin Code link using the Origin Code Tool for Webmasters and ADD the Destination Code to the end of your link code: &dcdid=YYYYY, where YYYYY is the numeric Destination Code you have selected from the Destination Codes provided by the Affiliate Program Owners.

Using the previous examples, the resulting Link might look something like this:

http://revex.dhdmedia.com/metromoney.cfm?dcwid=XXXXXX&dcokey=NNNNN&dcdid=YYYYY
